Abstinence Eating Plan – No Sugar

Image by dhammza via Flickr February 2010 – Abstinence Eating Plan – Go AEP! In January, I gave up cheese.  Prior to January I would eat a lot of cheese – cheese in my scrambled eggs, cheese on my salad, cheese with an apple, cheese with nuts and wine. Cheese, cheese, say cheese. In the end I lost 4 pounds. I thought I lost 5 pounds but I gained one pound back.  Still by not doing anything except giving up cheese — I lost 4 pounds. I’ll drink to that! I probably gained a pound back because nearing the end

Drive Thru Diet

Image via Wikipedia There is a new “healthy” menu at Taco Bell. These fresh menu options offer less fat and calories. Taco Bell is basically saying that if you are in a hurry and are going to eat fast food regardless, it is better to come to them and eat off there new fresh menu then to go somewhere else. I know some of my friends were confused and after seeing the commercials, thought this meant the food selections were healthy. NO. This means there new food selections are better than the others and can actually help those who eat

Diet: Abstinence Eating Plan – Cheese-less

Image via Wikipedia People have been asking me about not eating cheese. The good news, I’ve lost 5 pounds!  The bad news, no bad news. I barely miss cheese. It’s amazing to me that I lost 5 pounds just by giving up cheese. All things being equal — I’m still an exercise slug — but I have not eaten cheese. The other night I cooked an amazing pasta sauce and thought — wow, this would really taste good with a sprinkling of freshly grated Parmesan, but of course, didn’t have any. Then I made a beautiful salad of greens +

Cookie Diet – Woman Loses 120 Pounds

Okay, I’ll bite. Normally, I wouldn’t post this but I’ve read about the Cookie Diet ™ before and now it’s on the cover of People magazine.  Kudos to Ms. Raper who is a fellow Arizonan who lost 120 pounds. What a transformation! 34 years ago, a Miami doctor created these cookies for his patients. Dr. Siegal’s cookies — which he still claims to mix every batch himself along with his wife’s help — supress hunger yet are filled with a secret protein rich formula (that tastes good too).  He sounds like the good cookie monster. Check out the Cookie Diet . It’s probably more palatable than

Cookbook Review: Eat, Shrink, Be Merry

Here are two sisters — Janet and Greta Podleski who devote their lives to writing about “great tasting food that won’t go from your lips to your hips.” The book – Eat, Shrink & Be Merry, has over 190 pages of mouth watering cooking tips, cartoons, pop quizines, factoids, and recipes. You must have a corny sense of humor to appreciate the book.  Recipes have funny titles like ‘chicken littles, tartlett O’Hara, sealed with a quiche, fromage a trois, and tuskinny chicken” are among the few. The sisters claim to have spent two years sacrificing their social lives and driving

Gaining Weight – Even Oprah Gained Weight

Oprah (no last name needed) is one of the world’s most powerful and rich women. When she announces a book that she likes, two weeks later it’s a best seller. If she announces a product she likes, the demand exceeds the supply. Yep, she’s powerful. And she is also vulnerable. Oprah just announced that she has fallen off the eating healthy wagon and has gained 40 pounds and now weighs 200 pounds. Of course, TV doesn’t lie but she could ignore it but has chosen to address it, which is why her fans adore her. She is not afraid to be vulnerable.

Weight Loss, Glycemic Index Diet, Glycemic Load

I am on day 11. I haven’t been keeping up with the posts but it’s eating as per the other days more or less. I actually went out to eat a few times to break the boredom and stuck with the program. I went to lunch in a Mexican restaurant, Zivaz, and didn’t get the rice, the chips, or the tortillas but did get a wonderful homey chicken dish (lunch portion size) with a lot of vegetables, black beans, salsa, and salad. I didn’t miss any of those carbs that I usually O.D. on. Today I went to pick up a salad at Sauce. My
