Circle of Food Leftovers – weight loss in drag, super tomatoes, chocolate, food recalls

Circle of Food Leftovers – weight loss in drag, super tomatoes, chocolate, food recalls, PB&J Here’s a few crumbs of what I saw around the web this past week: Weight Loss in Drag Hey guys – is your butt too big? Try as they might, Weight Watchers® commercials have never had the quirky humor and creativity of  those happy Target ads. Imagine paying thousands of dollars to advertise toilet paper? Women see no humor in losing weight. While Jennifer Hudson has made a dramatic change and I admire anyone who loses beaucoup weight (but most importantly keeps it off), do

My Fitness Pal Application

I recently downloaded another great application on my droid. It wasn’t hard to find because it was one of the top rated applications, so I just decided to download it for free and see what it was like. After downloading the app, I now understand why it is one of the top free health and fitness apps…it is really cool and useful. What this application basically does is track everything you eat. When you first sign up for the free account, you put in your height, weight and age. It then asks you if you are looking to maintain your

The Subway Diet

Image via Wikipedia One of my friends is trying this diet out. She wants to see how it works with working out. I think it is probably one of the better diets because it is just basically eating healthy. Eating healthy and working out is the key success to loosing weight. Her version of the diet is more like the second one I found, but there are two known versions according to everydiet.com The first version contains: Breakfast: Small bowl of cereal with skimmed milk. Black coffee with sweetener. Lunch: Turkey Subway Sandwich. Diet Pepsi. Dinner: Vegetarian Subway Sandwich. Water.

Fad Diets: Are they right for you?

Image via Wikipedia Famous Fad Diets Circle of Food received a link to an article about the 10 worst fad diets. Only 10? My curiosity was piqued and I decided to check it out. OMG! I am guilty of partaking in some of these fad diets in my past. Of the 10, I have been on the Atkins Diet and the Cabbage Soup Diet. Many years ago I went on Atkins and the weight just fell off. I was so thin people didn’t recognize me. I was eating cheese omelets for breakfast, cheese burgers (without the bun) and salads for

Crazy Diet

Image via Wikipedia So one of my friends has been working out and lost about 10 pounds this summer and looks great! But she still has some areas she thinks could be more toned so she’s starting a crazy diet in my opinion. This diet is called the HCG diet. Basically, you do the diet for a period of 25 days. Each day, you eat basically the same thing, and you are suppose to loose 1 to 2 lbs. a DAY. That is a lot of weight loss fast. For your daily food, you can only consume 500 calories and

Weight Watchers isn’t for everyone…

Image via Wikipedia Weight Watchers is a great system for lots of women trying to loose weight, but it does not always work for everyone. This makes sense because there are lots of diets and healthy lifestyles out there so everyone can pick and choose their own, but I thought my findings on weight watchers were very interesting. First, I know my Aunt Mary loves it and was on it for many years. She lost a lot of weight after childhood, and it worked for her! Congrats! But for other younger women, I am not seeing the same thing. I

Essay: Why you should blame the caveman if you can’t zip your jeans

Image by Colin Purrington via Flickr This essay was submitted by Alisa Singer What this old thing?  It’s a million years old. If you pride yourself on your late model car or your trendy clothes, you’ll be surprised to learn that you’re walking around in a body designed over a million years ago. This is around the time the Homo Erectus model was first introduced; the Neanderthal version came out around 100,000 years ago and the very latest (but only slightly modified) body style, Homo Sapiens (ironically named “modern man”) was released by the manufacturer approximately 40,000 years ago. Diet: Abstinence Eating Plan-No second helpings, no clean plate club

Image via Wikipedia For April (I did start April 1, I just didn’t write about it), I decided to not omit a food group but instead to not have second helpings and to not clean my plate or to leave some food on my plate. Recap: In January, I gave up cheese and lost 4 pounds. Cheese did creep back into my diet. I’m not cheesing overboard but still cheesing. A little cheese is calcium but too much cheese is salt and fat. In February, I gave up sugar. I didn’t lose any weight which was mind boggling to me.

Soda Pop is a Killer

Image via Wikipedia Pop is a regular part of many people’s routine, but can it be avoided? For me, I crave pop every once in awhile, so I usually have cans around. Although I have cans usually laying around my place, I know pop is not a problem for me because I prefer to drink water and it usually takes me a couple weeks to finish a 12 pack of pop. I am lucky enough it isn’t a problem, but for a lot of people, they need pop. My roommate in college drinks diet Pepsi and only diet Pepsi. She
