Chowder House

Over the weekend, I was very busy for the Easter holiday. On top of it being Easter, my mom’s birthday was Saturday. For her birthday, we went to a new restaurant I had never been to. It is located in Cuyahoga Falls, OH and called Chowder House. Although I had never been there before, my mom picked the restaurant because she loves the place and goes there pretty frequently. When you first walk in this restaurant, it is like no other place in the valley. The restaurant use to be a coffee shop before and the original owner hand painted

Chipotle Burritos

I usually try to avoid eating fast food because I do not like to waste my money and I think it is very unhealthy. Since Chipotle is owned by McDonald’s, I group it in with fast food. It’s not that I don’t like Chipotle, but it’s just that if I am going to eat out, I would rather have something else… I have been there a couple times over the past couple years, but to me it is not very special. However… A lot of my friends think I am crazy because they are OBSESSED with Chipotle. One of my

We really do like veggies..

I was hungry yesterday and wanted something for a snack, but didn’t have very many choices. After looking through my fridge and not finding much, I decided to make some broccoli. Since I was in a hurry to go to my sorority house, I just decided to bring everything with me and cook it there. All I did was boil the broccoli and then add 1 tablespoon of Kraft parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and garlic. I knew this snack would be very healthy because the broccoli was 20 calories for a serving and the parmesan cheese was 25 calories for

Family Dinners

While on vacation in West Palm Beach, we stayed at my friend’s relative’s house. Besides them being wonderful hosts and very friendly, her aunt and uncle cooked dinner for us every night to have their traditional family dinners. For these dinners, we would all help prepare the menu, set the table, cook and clean up. Besides it bringing back the memories of dinners at home, it was a great experience because we were able to get to know her aunt, uncle and cousin better. It really warmed me up to their family and was an important part of every day.

Self-Expression in the Art of Cooking

Due to the fact that for most people the joy of cooking is a pleasure that ends in filling the belly with wholesome nutrients, many miss out on the element of self-expression in cooking. However those who are fearless enough to enter the world of foodstuffs and play with aromas and textures to create full-course meals, understand there is a genuine satisfaction that comes from all the chopping, mixing, brewing and heating that goes into making food. Your final dish is only as authentic as your good intentions for those who will eat what you make with your own hands.

Roasted Potato Fries Recipe

Here is a very simple recipe that I enjoy making. This recipe is easy to prepare and you can use ingredients you probably already have around your house. The recipe is for Roasted Potato Fries. All you need to make this is potatoes, olive oil and spices. Besides this being very delicious and a lot less calories than traditional fries, I like to make them when my potatoes are going bad. That way, I have delicious fries that I can eat or freeze and they taste as good time after time. For the recipe, you first wash the potatoes. Then

Make Your Own Cookbook?

Do you love to cook and have a lot of great ideas? I know my mom has been making my “Favorite” recipes for years and I have them written down, but not all in one spot. I have multiple cookbooks with the best of the best recipes, but it takes up a lot of space. The other day, I was online and looking for new recipes. Instead, I came upon this site and found a new cool idea. I have entered recipes into cookbooks for different organizations, but I had never made my own. Once I saw this site, I

The Great Greek Salad

I love making different types of salads, but being at college and on a budget, it is hard to get all the ingredients for the salads without spending an arm and a leg. But thanks to Monette’s Market in Toledo, Ohio, I now can make this Greek salad and not feel bad about buying everything for it. This salad is pretty simple to make and it is delicious. Besides the fact that it is delicious, it is very filling and pretty healthy. It is based on a traditional Greek salad which contains no lettuce. Since there is no lettuce in

Domino’s Revamps Pizza

I don’t know if you have heard, but Domino’s is completely changing their pizza. After many years with their traditional crust, sauce and toppings, Domino’s is finding out customers are NOT satisfied and they are losing tons of business. This has been a problem for years, and Domino’s is seeing the effects. Although I still think of Domino’s when it comes to Pizza, I could not tell you the last time I had it. First of all, because the pizza is not that good. And second of all, because all of the Domino’s in the Toledo area closed over the
