Tucson Beer Brewed with Chiles Fundraiser for 4 Charities

Circle of Food blog

A FUN-draiser

Love this idea! Thirteen local craft breweries are coming together Thursday September 29 with specially crafted beers infused with chiles, chiltepin, chocolate (Hershey Bars!), mesquite and more for a special tasting that benefits four fab Tucson charities — Desert Harvesters, Native Seeds/SEARCH, Iskashitaa Refugee Network, and Trees for Tucson.  This is a yearlong collaboration with Edible Baja Arizona.

The cost is $15 for 13 samples and all the money raised goes to the above.

It all flows at Barrio Brewing Company is at 800 East 16th Street from 6 to 8 pm, just east of Armory Park.

Tucson’s altruism, once again, is on display here in a good way.            craft-beer

Check out what you’ll be tasting and how to order tickets.

Here are a few of my favorite descriptions:

Green Feet Brewing
Beer: KIKR Brown Ale
Special ingredients: Hatch chiles and cacao nibs
ABV: 6.8%
Notes: We took our Tango Down Brown Ale and infused it with Hatch chiles and cacao nibs.

Public Brew House
Beer: Calaca
Style: Whiskey Del Bac Barrel aged stout
Special Ingredients: Chiltepin, local carob, local mesquite
ABV: 8.5%

Sentinel Peak Brewing Company
Beer: Sentinel Peak Chile Chocolate Porter
Special ingredients: Desert Doppler Porter, Hershey’s Chocolate, roasted Jalapeno, Anaheim, Serrano, Habanero, and Ghost chiles.
ABV: 6.5%
Notes: Using our Doppler Porter as a base beer grain bill, we added several Hershey’s Chocolate bars and a variety of roasted peppers. Its heat is intense, but it mellows out with the smoothness of chocolate and the roasted pepper flavor comes through. Not for the heat-challenged palate. You were warned!
