Meal Talk

If my friends and I are looking for something to do.. we sometimes go out to eat. If I am meeting an old friend.. we sometimes go out to eat to talk. If I am on a job interview… I sometimes go out with the employer to talk things over. If it is a special occasion.. we always go out to eat. The big question… Why does everyone make going out and formal dinners a big deal? I really don’t have the answer, but in part, I think it has something to do with why America is getting very obese.

Eating out on the “Job”

Image via Wikipedia I am very thrify and hate to spend money unless I have to. One of the ways I try to save money is not eating out a lot because making meals is a lot cheaper. Well, I have discovered while working for my dad’s business, System to Sell, I have to eat out almost everyday. Why you ask?… because it is hard to pack a lunch when there is no fridge and really no place to put your food while you are working. I don’t like going out, but there is really no other option. That’s how

Los habaneros

Image by RACINGMIX via Flickr Around my other job, I work for my Dad’s company System to Sell fixing up houses. My friend, Amanda, and I were working for him the other day and lunch time came around. So, we all packed up and decided to venture into Shaker Heights and find someplace to eat for lunch. We ended up finding a cute Mexican Restaurant called Los Habaneros. This place was an authentic Mexican restaurant, and all the workers spoke Spanish. (It was pretty cool to hear them talk to each other) Anyways, we got there, ordered and got our

Great Lakes Brewery

Image by chrisscott via Flickr Great Lakes Brewery is a nice restaurant and brewery located in Downtown Cleveland. This restaurant is located on an artsy part of the city near the West Side Market and shops. This brewery brews all sorts of beers. Some of the more populars ones include Dortmonder Gold and Eliet Ness. All their beers can be found in major grocery stores. Besides having a wonderful restaurant, pub, and bar, they have a brewery onsite to tour. When I went with my family, we however did not tour it due to time but I have before. The

Daves Cosmic Subs

Image by livatlantis via Flickr   This sub place in Hudson, OH is one of a kind. When you walk in the doors, you go back into the 80’s with crazy colors, and drawings everywhere. They even have a cool tradition of signing the wall when you go in. There are so many people making history on the walls everyday; now it is even hard to find a spot to write since the place has been open so long. The restaurant atmosphere is 80’s, but what really makes the restaurant is the super sub menu. This menu is a bit

West Side Market

Image by mralan via Flickr Over the weekend, my aunt and uncle came to visit so we decided to take a trip up to the West Side Market in Cleveland. This market is a very cool place to go because not only do you get a wonderful selection of food, but for a very reasonable price. Going through the outside of the market, you find different vendors selling fruits and vegetables competing for the sales. You can also find dried fruits, specialty items and fresh cut flowers.  When my brother and I were looking around, we got a whole cantaloupe,

Steak on the highway?

Image via Wikipedia Imagine you are driving along the road and suddenly smell steak. Your gut reaction would be yum, and probably think its coming from a grill outside somebody’s house. Well not in North Carolina. In North Carolina, they actually have billboard advertising steak with a scent to entice buyers in. A billboard for  Bloom Grocery in  North Carolina is testing this form of temptation by not only featuring a larger-than-life photo of a perfectly pink steak, but also pumping out the smell of black pepper and charcoal. So how do they actually get the scent to your nose

Five Guys

Image by uglyagnes via Flickr Have you ever heard of this place??… Well I hadn’t until about a year ago. In the past year, this place has been popping up everywhere being the new big hit in fast food. The first time I ever saw it, I was in Toledo last year and once it went in the shopping center, I kept hearing people talk about it. From there on, people were constantly going there to eat, but I never knew the big deal. So finally, I tried a fry my friend got to see if it really was amazing.

Fourth of July Cake

This  cake is one of many creations that can be made for the holiday. I personally like this one because it is simple, yet you can mix it up a little bit. My tradition way of making this is using white cake, with vanilla frosting. If you want something different, try pound cake or angel food cake. You can also substitute the icing for a whipped topping. On top of this cake, add cut strawberries in horizontal lines, and a square patch of blueberries in the top left hand corner. This will make a wonderful looking American Flag that your
