In previous years, the Tucson Culinary Festival lasted for one long glorious weekend. This year they’re mixing it up with the Reserve & Grand Tasting wine events on Saturday, October 6 at Casino del Sol Resort and the World Margarita Championship on Friday October 26 at the Tucson Museum of Art.

Tucson, Ariz—–The 10th annual Tucson Culinary Festival kicks off  for 2012 with the Reserve & Grand Tasting on Saturday, October 6, at Casino del Sol Resort followed by the World Margarita Championship™ on Friday, October 26, on the plaza at the Tucson Museum of Art.

A portion of the proceeds from both events will benefit Tucson Values Teachers (love this!) and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber Foundation (Scholarship Fund) on behalf of Cox Charities.

Reserve & Grand Tasting Events ~ Saturday, October 6 ~ 5-8pm and 6-9pm ~ Casino del Sol Resort
The Reserve Tasting  A special event made for wine lovers, the Reserve Tasting gives guests a rare opportunity to taste small production, boutique wines seldom available by the glass, along with special dishes created by Tucson Original chefs to complement the wines. The Reserve Tasting will take place on the pool area and breezeway just outside the Grand Ballroom from 5 to 8 pm. Guests with Reserve Tasting Tickets may also attend the Grand Tasting.

Early Bird Sale before August 1:  $85

After Aug 1, tickets are $100  per person in advance ($125 at the door ) and can be purchased here.

The Grand Tasting, Tucson’s premiere food and wine event, will be held in the Grand Ballroom  and foyer . Guests enjoy an exceptional selection of over 100 wines, from the top growing regions of the world, a wide selection of micro brews and beers and tastings of signature dishes from over 40 Tucson Originals restaurants. The Grand Tasting lasts from 6-9 pm.  Guests can also relax in the Festival Lounge featuring cocktail competitions and spirit tastings throughout the evening.

Early Bird Sale before August 1:  $50   After August 1 –  $65 per person in advance ($80 at the door) and can be purchased at here.

The World Margarita Championship™ ~ Friday, October 26 ~ 6-9pm ~ Tucson Museum of Art

The World Margarita Championship™ will take place on Friday, October 26, on the plaza of the Tucson Museum of Art from 6 to 9 pm. The event will feature exciting competitions between  Tucson’s most outstanding mixologists, each trying to best the other with their unique creations of Tucson’s favorite beverage  – the Margarita. In addition to tasting margaritas from each of the challengers, and delectable dishes specially created  for the event by Tucson Originals chefs,  guests will vote for their favorite for the 2012 People’s Choice Award.

A panel of local “celebrity” judges including former UA Basketball star Joseph Blair, noted food mavens Jennifer English and Edie Jarolim, and renowned mixology expert Robert Plotkin will select the winner of the 2012 World Margarita Championship award. (This is Karyn’s favorite event.)
