The Cup Café is no stranger to high praise and accolades from Tucsonans, especially for their number one best seller, the Baked Eggs, but it was the crowning glory for the eclectic Downtown Tucson café to receive national recognition by Men’s Journal which on January 21 announced the Cup Café as one of the Top Ten Brunch Spots in America. Great news as the Cup Café celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. AZ Red
Maynards Market & Kitchen announces their first private label locally-crafted wine. Grown and produced in the great state of Arizona with Sand-Reckoner Vineyards, Maynards continues their practice of sourcing local products and what better way to live that philosophy than bottling their very own wine.

The Zinfandel blend, coined AZ RED, is noted for its big, jammy, dark fruit flavors, its medium body with firm tannins and a black pepper finish, the 63% Zinfandel and 37% Petite Sirah blend is aged in neutral French oak barrels for fourteen months.

FAVORITES

Here are some of Circle of Food’s most recent favorites:

The Screamery

lemony ice cream with vanilla cookies smashed into the mix

The Screamery – OMICG! I live 8.06 miles (one way) from The Screamery and have been there three times in 1.5 months. I give it three thumbs up. The ice cream is creamier, richer, more flavorful, more pure, more innovative, and more downright delectable than any ice cream I have eaten in a long time. The milk used in the ice cream comes from grass-fed cows and is pasteurized in-house. Yes, it apparently makes a difference. I feel like swooning. Hopefully, they will be moving to a closer Midtown location in the near future.

Korean pancakes

savory and comforting

Seoul Kitchen Restaurant – What to order? You can look around and see what others are ordering or the waitress might make recommendations. Go with them! We liked the (A-13) Bean Dae Doek or Korean savory pancakes, 2 to an order served with a brownish hot sauce; (S-16) Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap – a comforting assortment of fresh vegetables, beef, fried egg, rice and hot sauce served in a hot stone pot. Wash it all down with Korean beer or iced green tea. Located on the eastern edge of the Crossroads Festival shopping center at Swan/Grant with not much atmosphere but you’re there to eat.
