Adventures in healthy eating

Tucson, Ariz—Haile Thomas, age 11, founder  of the  Healthy Girl Adventures Club website, and lead host of the Kids Can Cook online cooking show,  recently launched a wonderful summer initiative  designed to inspire other kids to have fun learning about healthy eating and cooking.  Anyone can enter and submit an original photo that must include seasonal fruit and/or vegetables  in a creative setting.  (Haile also was an inspired speaker at TEDx Tucson a few months ago.)

Photos can be posted on Facebook. Click on the Summer Photo Contest link to submit.

Everyone is encouraged to vote for their favorite photo on the Facebook page now  through July 27.  The photographer whose work receives the most votes will be announced on Monday, July 30  and will win a complimentary Deluxe Room for two at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch plus dinner at the Alto Ristorante & Bar and a gondola ride along the resort’s waterway.

Haile has been a crusader in helping to end childhood obesity since she was 5 years old. This extraordinary young lady has a strong vision and works every day to inspire other kids to join her in her mission.  On Monday, July 16, she will help launch the first ever Culinary Camp for Kids at the Children’s Museum in Tucson located at 200 S 6th Avenue.  The week-long series of hands-on cooking classes and culinary fun, will feature easy ways for kids to make healthy meals with their families for every occasion.   Haile will assist Chef Ryan Clark (Executive Chef at Lodge on the Desert) in preparing a healthy breakfast on the  July 16.
