Yin Yang Martini Recipe – 2009 Drink of the Year

Are you still drinking Cosmopolitan’s? That is so 90’s. The 2009 drink of the year is the Yin Yang Martini. Almost too pretty to drink.

I first learned of this at a holiday get-together this week at The Melting Pot  – a fondue restaurant that recently opened in the Dayton Ohio area.  It was a huge group and everyone was clearly impressed by this drink. 

Yield: 1 serving
Vanilla-flavored vodka 1 oz.
White-chocolate liqueur 1 oz.
White-chocolate mocha syrup 1/2 oz.
Ice cream mix 2 oz.
Crushed ice as needed
Dark-chocolate shavings garnish
Dark- and white-chocolate chips garnish

Blend ingredients; pour into 10-oz. martini glass. Garnish with chocolate shavings and alternating dark- and white-chocolate chips.

    I had one of these at Melting Pot and I was hooked. I have been wanting to go back just to get this drink again. So I am really grateful for your recipe so I could try it out myself. I had a problem finding a couple of the ingredients so here’s what we did:

    1 shot of Absolute Vanilla
    1 shot of Godiva White Chocolate Liqour
    2 spoonfulls of Bryers french vanilla ice cream (instead of ice cream mix)
    1/2 shot glass of Ghirardelli white chocolate mocha powder (closest thing I could find to syrup)
    Ice cubes
    Lyndt 90% dark chocolate shaved on top (not in a design, just all over)
    RESULT? YUMMY!!!!!!

    I’m rather particular in that if the alcohol taste stands out too much, i don’t care much for the drink. I love this drink, its mixed so that the drink flavorings compliment the alcohol taste and meld with it instead of exacerbating it. It’s delightful!
