Red’s Smokehouse & Tap Room

Red’s is a welcome addition to the University food scene. Tonight my friend and food writer Edie Jarolim and I sampled the Carolina pulled pork basket with corn bread and vinegar slaw, corn on the cob with Siracha, lime and cojita cheese, the wedge Cobb salad, and grilled veggies. And we cleaned our plates.

Vegetarians can find sanctuary here too. Check out the smoked vegetable stack and an array of sides.

Craft beer can be purchased in 5 oz, 10 oz, 16 oz servings as well as signature cocktails.

Red’s is the brainchild of Ramiro Scavo who owns Pasco Kitchen (also on University) and formerly worked for Zona 78 among others.

You must check out the giant red Myron Mixon Smoker which is like the elephant in the room or in this case, the open kitchen. It’s smokin’

Red’s is located at 943 E. University Ave, #125 (near 2nd Street parking and weird back-in street parking if you’re lucky enough to get it.)
