Tucson Food Events–Sept 17-Bacon, Brew, Casks Oktoberfest

1bacon0929-baconWhat is it about Saturday September 17th that the stars are aligned in such a way to bring about a trio of sumptuous beef, bacon and beer events around town? My apologies to vegetarians.

Arizona Bacon Fest

You must be 21+ to attend this bacon bacchanalia at Randolph Park driving range from 5 to 9 pm. General admission costs $40 which includes unlimited food tastings from 35+ local chefs and 35+ beer tastings. Go ahead and pig out!  Live music by Love Boat & Sol Invictus.  Friends don’t let friends drive drunk but eating too much bacon is another story entirely.

Born and Brewed

A dozen of Tucson’s best breweries will compete in the 5th Annual Beer Cup at Hotel Congress from 6 to 9 pm. For $25 in advance or $30 day of, general admission ticket holders will receive a taste of each competing craft beer, commemorative tasting glass, plate of special eats including pulled pork sliders/etc. For the VIP $50 ticket, you get a buffet and more bells and whistles. Designated drivers pay $15 for plate of special eats and a take home gift. Sounds like fun. Live entertainment too.

Dragoon Brewing Company is joining Chef Ken Harvey and the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort culinary team for Casks & Cooks Oktoberfest. Learn the basics of beer and food pairing, the benefits of beer over wine, and get a short introduction to sensory analysis from Tristan White, Dragoon founder.

Throughout the evening craft beer selections will be paired with a variety of grilled to order specialties including brined ribs and smoked tri tip, bomba rice, squid ink paella, and more. Don’t miss an outdoor evening under the stars featuring local craft beer, BBQ and live blues music by Tom Walbank.

The cost is $65 per ticket for guests 21+. Reservations are required by calling 520-615-5496. See you at the Coyote Corral from 6:30 to 9 pm.
